In a techno-thriller, a mixture of action, intrigue and romance makes for a powerful story. And Tech Wars delivers that balance in spades. Well, that is if you define "action" as "one-sided beat-downs," "intrigue" as "block exposition" and "romance" as "creepy obsessive staring and stalking." If you don't, then you might not get much out of this fic (not even Shatner) save for some random inappropriately inserted Gundam technology. It's a fic written after extensive research reading other fics, and it shows!

In my fandom, there are tons of people who make fan characters for the webcomic (technically characters in the same world) without knowing about the original source. They've just seen other people's fan characters and use the same template. The closest I've seen with our fanfiction is one author admitting they hadn't caught up yet. The webcomic is free and easily available! At least with Bubblegum Crisis you could say your fansubs haven't come in yet.
