The last chapter of Delta Invasion is going to be nothing but weddings and babies and babies and weddings and four hundred babies
It's hard to know what to expect from the end of Delta Invasion. Between goofy monster battles, destroying an omnipotent conspiracy, Italian restaurant menus, martial arts tournaments, going into space, being special, blowing up a planet and Charles (Not Charles anything, just Charles), the series has constantly thrilled and delighted (not to mention terrified) us with its whacky and unpredictable nature. And after that, how could the last part be any different? What would be an appropriate finish to send off the sheer screaming insanity of the Delta we know and love? I can say now that it's certainly not this!

Now that the "Rebuild of DELTA" is over, I was thinking I ought to try and say something now. The rebuilt MSTing was familiar, yet still seemed to be a unified whole instead of just an old work with new references tossed in. I do have to admit, though, that along the way I went straight back to my old habit of seeing "putdown in passing" riffs and feeling bad for the regular targets, so for all I know I won't be about to let this new work altogether replace the old. However, genuine "host segments" in the middle of this final chapter were an interesting touch. I can wonder where you'll go from here, but what you've accomplished anew so far has been interesting.
ReplyDeleteI finally read the MSTing. While it's missing some riffs I loved in the old one, and some new ones are needlessly mean or odd (like the medical explanation of liver failure or whatever), it's pretty good. I still can't tell between Rick and Dan and changing Rebecca into another smarty pants like Tsuneo kinda makes them the same too.
